Just a few weeks shy of the one-year anniversary of her debut studio album, In Pieces, Chloe Bailey (also known as Chlöe) is back with new solo music. On Wednesday (Feb. 28), the Grammy-nominated R&B star revealed the artwork and NSFW title of her latest single.
“FYS. What do you think it means? Guess right and i’ll drop 🤭” Chlöe teased on X Tuesday (Feb. 27). The multi-hyphenate shared a 19-second snippet of her new single, in which she repeatedly croons “love me” as layers of harmonies grow steadily in the background. The following day, Chlöe debuted the single’s official artwork, which finds her lounging on the sand in a cropped white tank and black bikini bottoms with the title “F–k Your Status” emblazoned across the picture. “FYS. 3/1. Pre-save now 💋,” Chlöe captioned the post, confirming the release date for her new track.
“FYS” will mark Chlöe’s first musical release of 2024. Last year’s In Pieces — which housed notable tracks such as “Pray It Away,” “Body Do,” “Feel Me Cry” and the Chris Brown-assisted “How Does It Feel” — hit No. 119 on the Billboard 200. To support the set, Chlöe embarked on the 25-date In Pieces tour, which visited major cities such as New York, Toronto and London.
In addition to promoting In Pieces, Chlöe spent 2023 starring in Donald Glover‘s Emmy-nominated comedy-horror miniseries Swarm, collaborating with artists such as Offset and Libianca, and supporting her sister Halle Bailey, with whom she records under the Chloe x Halle moniker.
As a soloist Chlöe has earned four Billboard Hot 100 hits: “Have Mercy” (No. 28), “Treat Me” (No. 81), “You & Me” (No. 72, with Gunna) and “Winter Wonderland” (No. 87). She achieved an additional Hot 100 entry with “Do It” (No. 63) as a half of Chloe x Halle. The sibling duo has also landed both of their studio albums on the Billboard 200: 2018’s The Kids Are Alright (No. 139) and 2020’s Ungodly Hour (No. 16).
