Taylor Swift has received online criticism from Billie Eilish fans after the pop superstar released three new digital editions of The Tortured Poets Department just one day before Eilish’s long-awaited new album, Hit Me Hard And Soft, was set for release. One fan voiced their displeasure on X: “i love you taylor, but this is just greedy. couldn’t have released this last week or next week? but now that you know there’s competition for #1 this week, you gotta go and play these stunts. it’s honestly tiring. just stop and let other people win pls.” Swift’s new Tortured Poets digital variants feature “the first draft phone memo” versions of fan favorites, “The Black Dog,” “Cassandra,” and “Who’s Afraid Of Little Old Me?” Eilish recently criticized artists for the wastefulness and greed of releasing multiple variants of their albums, which many fans took as her lashing out directly at Swift.
