Country superstar Carrie Underwood and gospel great CeCe Winans took to the Grand Ole Opry House stage at the 2021 ACM Awards on Sunday (April 18) for a medley of classic hymns.
Underwood kicked off the performance solo, emerging in a glittering gown beneath a single spotlight for “Amazing Grace.” The singer, who released her first gospel music album My Savior in March, began the first verse a capella, and was soon joined by piano and strings.
Underwood then transitioned into “Great Is Thy Faithfulness,” introducing “the legendary CeCe Winans” for the hymn. Wearing a floral brocade dress, Winans immediately brought the performance to a 10 as the two women dueted.
Next, the Opry stage turned into a church — complete with enormous stained-glass windows and a full choir — as Underwood and Winans sang “The Old Rugged Cross.” Finally, Underwood closed out the set with “How Great Thou Art.”
My Savior opened at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales, Top Christian Albums and Top Country Albums charts earlier this month.
Jimmie Allen, Kelsea Ballerini, Brothers Osborne, Kenny Chesney, Dan + Shay, Mickey Guyton and many more will also be performing tonight. Check out the full ACMs winners’ list here, and keep checking back at Billboard.com throughout the night for updating coverage.
The ACM Awards are produced by Dick Clark Productions, which is owned by MRC. MRC and Penske Media are co-parent companies of Billboard.
