Alex Rodriguez is celebrating his daughter Ella becoming a teenager on Wednesday (April 21) in a touching tribute featuring his former fiancée Jennifer Lopez.
The former MLB star shared a nearly two-minute video of him and his 13-year-old daughter over the years, which included a black-and-white shot of J. Lo squatting down to hug Ella, and a Polaroid of the superstar sitting on her knees next to A-Rod’s daughter. The rest of the celebratory clip, soundtracked by Alphaville’s “Forever Young” and Maroon 5’s “Nobody’s Love,” spotlights the father-daughter duo eating out, going to concerts, cuddling on the couch and other activities.
“13. Wow. That number has meant a lot to me over the years, but today, it’s even more special than ever. I just can’t believe my Ella Bella turns 13 today. My baby girl is officially a teenager!! Ella – everyday you amaze me more than I could have ever imagined,” Rodriguez wrote on Twitter. “You are smart, mature, talented, caring, and funny. I am so proud of the young woman you are becoming and so lucky and grateful to be your dad. I love you so much. Happy magical 13th birthday sweetheart! #ellabella #birthdaygirl #teenager #yourdaddyisold.”
The former Yankees player shares his daughter Ella and her 16-year-old sister, Natasha, with his ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis. Before A-Rod and J. Lo called off their two-year engagement after the two started dating in February 2017, the couple shared a blended family with his daughters and her 13-year-old twins Maximilian “Max” David and Emme Maribel, whom the singer shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony. J. Lo and the former baseball star made the announcement of their breakup official on April 15, just weeks after saying that they were trying to work things out.
