It’s been 51 years since the first Earth Day launched the modern environmental movement as we know it, affecting change through a mix of education, public policy, and innovative campaigns.
Thursday (April 22), activists and citizens of the world will come together to celebrate what makes our planet so unique and call on humanity to fight for its preservation.
Artists like Maná have long been imbuing this vital message into their music. The Mexican pop-rockers are among the greenest musical artists around, having launched their Selva Negra foundation in 1995, which tackles everything from deforestation to rescuing endangered sea turtles. It’s no coincidence that in 2015, they synchronized the release of their studio album, Cama Incendiada, on Earth Day week.
To celebrate, we’re kicking off our Latin-flavored collection of Earth Day songs with Maná’s ecologically-minded ’90s classic, “Donde Jugarán Los Niños.”
Whether it’s educating us on climate change, reminding us of the beauty of our planet, or simply evoking the elements, this curated playlist featuring Latin artists of every genre provides the perfect soundscape for an ever-important occasion.
