The one where she revisits her ’90s ‘do! Mariah Carey shared with her Lambs a flashback photo on Friday (May 28), in which she attempted to make her coif similar to that of one very famous Friend.
“#FBF A sad attempt at the Rachel hairdo,” Mimi captioned the throwback snap of herself on social media. In the photo, the singer is on performing on stage with wavy locks that were up in a wavy half ponytail. She also added the laughing-crying emoji and the hashtag #friends.
While Friends aired on NBC from 1994 to 2004, star Jennifer Aniston — who portrayed Rachel Greene — made the character’s hairstyles popular. The most beloved ‘do was The Rachel, a layered shoulder-length look with plenty of body that perfectly framed the actress’s face; it became widely copied by fans.
Carey isn’t the only musician who shared her love for Friends recently. When the long-awaited reunion brought the six stars together May 27 for a chat hosted by James Corden, various musical artists who were fans of the show also made guest appearances. Among them was Lady Gaga, who performed a duet of “Smelly Cat” with Lisa Kudrow, who played Phoebe Buffay. In a sweet moment, the singer also thanked the actress for bringing “the different” Phoebe to life.
Justin Bieber also made an appearance. While the special — which is now streaming on HBO Max — presented a fashion show of some of the sitcom’s most memorable costumes, the “Peaches” singer strutted on the catwalk dressed as a potato with a colander on his head — in other words, Ross Geller’s “Spud-nik” Halloween costume.
But that wasn’t all. Global superstars BTS also made a video appearance to share their love for the show. Leader RM explained to viewers that when he was a child, his mom bought him the DVDs of the entire series. And thanks to the show, he learned English.
