Fontaines D.C.’s Dopamine Chamber crashes onto the Billboard charts as the album debuts in the top 10 across seven rankings — including No. 1 bows on three lists. The set starts in the top 10 on Independent Albums (No. 1), Vinyl Albums (No. 1), Indie Store Album Sales (No. 1), Top Album Sales (No. 2), Top Rock Albums (No. 4), Top Alternative Albums (No. 4) and Top Rock & Alternative Albums (No. 5). It also debuts at No. 14 on the overall Billboard 200.
The album’s arrival marks the highest rank on each of the charts for the Irish rock band. The set starts with 27,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States in the week ending Oct. 22, according to Luminate. Of that sum, album sales comprise 18,000 (13,000 in vinyl sales alone, thanks to multiple variants), with the remainder in units earned by streaming activity and track sales. All three figures represent career-highs for the group.
The new album was preceded by its chart hit “Marianne,” which climbs 4-2 on the Adult Alternative Airplay chart and holds at its No. 16 peak on the Alternative Airplay chart.
Dopamine Chamber is among four debuts in the top 10 of the latest Top Album Sales chart, where PLAVE, Ashe and TWICE also arrive. Also making waves in the top 10 is the 39-8 jump of CORTIS’ GREENGREEN following a reissue.
Finally, in the United Kingdom, Dopamine debuted at No. 1 on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart, marking the second leader for the group.
