My Chemical Romance is the third act in 2026 to wait at least 10 years from a Billboard 200 chart debut to a first No. 1. The band went 22 years and four months from its debut with Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge (June 26, 2004-dated chart) until its first leader. In September, Jhené Aiko got her first No. 1 with Westside Whimsy — 12 years and 10 months after her debut in 2013. In February, Megadeth landed its first No. 1 with its self-titled set — nearly 40 years after the metal act’s chart debut in 1986.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 2,500 ad-supported or 1,000 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. The new Nov. 7, 2026-dated chart will be posted in full on Billboard‘s website on Nov. 3. For all chart news, follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both X and Instagram.
