Rappers Gunna and Freddie Gibbs exchanged words online on Wednesday (January 5th) after the Atlanta rapper hinted at a diss track on his upcoming album Drip Season 4 that could be aimed towards Gibbs.
Gunna tweeted, “When my album drop Freddie Gibbs will the biggest moment of his career.”
Gibbs responded to the tweet with a kiss emoji. Shortly after, a clip shared by DJ Akademiks began circulating online featuring a man who resembles Freddie Gibbs listening to an unreleased Gunna track.
On the song, Gunna says, “I can't f**k with Freddie Gibbs.” Gunna is in the video as well. So this could be the song he was referring to.
Nonetheless, Freddie went on a Twitter rant afterwards, writing, “Definitely about to be my biggest year in rap I appreciate all y’all n***az manne #SSS. I’m the hot topic right now these n***az need me to push the project. I get it. U can say U sold more records got more money but I ain’t never been on crime stoppers. Fin.”
He continued, “N***a said 'Freddie Gibbs will be the biggest moment of his career.'”
In a follow-up message, Gibbs wrote, “I love gunna music I think he one of the best making music so to be recognized by one of the best is a blessing. Now don’t take this get back sh*t personal. 2 years ago these niggaz wouldn’t have mentioned my name. That let U know who the new king is.”
Gunna and Freddie Gibbs' social media squabble likely stems from Gibbs indirectly calling Gunna a snitch after tweeting in 2020 that people who appear on the Crime Stoppers TV show are snitches.
Gibbs posted the tweet the same day Gunna addressed snitch rumors during a radio interview after video footage surfaced of himself on what everyone assumed was from an episode of Crime Stoppers. The clip actually hit the net while Gunna was briefly feuding with Baton Rouge, L.A. rapper Tec.
The clip is from a program on CNN, according to Gunna, who said he was discussing his cousin who is serving a life sentence for the death of a little girl.
Gunna's album, Drip Season 4, comes out on Friday (January 7th).
